In 1967 graduated from the Department of Biophysics of Kaunas Medical Institute ( currently - Medical University). Did his final work at Moscow State University. Acquired the specialisation of a cyberneticist.
In 1967 - a post graduate student at the Department of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow University.
In 1971-1990 - worked at the Institute of Engineering Problems in Kaunas, later did research at the Centre of Informatics of Vytautas Magnus University, read lectures to students.
In 1972 -Doctor of Technical Sciences. Vice president and member of the Board of the Lithuanian Catholic Academy.
Participated in the activity of Sąjūdis. Did not belong to any party. At present - member of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party.
In 1992-1996 - member of the Seimas, elected in Aleksoto-Vilijampolės electoral district No. 12. Worked in the Education, Science and Culture Committee, was Chairman of the Science Subcommittee.
Speaks English and Russian languages.
Married. Has five children.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Union.
Member of the Social, Health and Family Affairs Committee, the Culture and Education Committee as well as the Science and Technology Committee of the European Union.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Republic of Taiwan.
Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Tibet.
