Born on May 13, 1933, in Kaunas region, the village of Rimkūnai into the family of farmers

In 1942 started to go school in Garliava. In 1949-1952 attended Kaunas high school of Jesuits. In 1954-1959 studied at Vilnius State Pedagogical Institute (currently Pedagogical University), the Department of Physics and Mathematics. In 1959-1966 worked as a teacher of mathematics at Plunge secondary school No.1. In 1966-1967 - a teacher of mathematics at Vilnius secondary school named after Salomėja Nėris. In 1967 - assistant at the Department of General Mathematics of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute. In 1971-1973 - a post-graduate student of the same Institute; Dr. Sc. From 1973 - a senior lecturer at the Department of General Mathematics of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute, in 1976 - Head of the Department.

In 1995-1996 - elected member of the Municipal Council of the city of Kaunas, Chairman of its Culture and Education Committee. Since May 7, 1997 - a member of the Seimas.

Published over fifty scientific articles, a monograph.

Wife Regina is a teacher. They have two sons.

Chairman of the Commission on Problems of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.

Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
