During the quarantine, events in the Seimas remain cancelled, except for press conferences and events that can be organised remotely

Press release, 19 May 2020

On Tuesday, the Board of the Seimas decided that the planned indoor events of the Seimas should remain cancelled for the duration of the quarantine in Lithuania. Exceptions apply to press conferences, which are further recommended to be followed online, and events that can be organised and observed remotely.

The Seimas agreed to postpone the events that were planned but could not be held by the Seimas to mark the 30th Anniversary of Restoration of the Independence of Lithuania as well as the Centenary of the Constituent Seimas and the Republic of Lithuania, taking into account their relevance and the possibilities to organise them at a later stage based on the instructions and recommendations from the Government and the Minister of Health as state commander of national emergency operations.

The Board of the Seimas also made a decision for guided tours and group meetings with visitors planned in the Seimas to remain cancelled during the quarantine. It was recommended to refrain from holding new guided tours and meetings in the Seimas during this period.

Members of the Board of the Seimas approved the preservation in force of the recommendation for Members of the Seimas and the staff of the Office of the Seimas to refrain from foreign business trips.

The Office of the Seimas was recommended to organise the work of the staff of the Office of the Seimas remotely, as far as possible, during the quarantine.
