On Wednesday the buildings of the Seimas will be lit up in green in honour of Ireland on its National Day

Press release, 17 March 2021

On Wednesday, 17 March 2021, in the dark hours of the day, the buildings of the Seimas will be illuminated in green. The Board of the Seimas approved by consensus the proposal by Dalia Asanavičiūtė, Head of the Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Ireland, and Marius Gudynas, Lithuanian Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland, to honour Ireland on St Patrick’s Day – the National Day of the country.

‘I am pleased that Lithuania and Ireland are linked by a special partnership, which we believe will continue to develop successfully through mutual gratifying and sincere cooperation. I am very happy that there is a sizeable and dynamic Lithuanian community in Ireland helping us not only to maintain but also to strengthen these relations,’ said Dalia Asanavičiūtė, MP.

St Patrick’s Day is a national holiday in Ireland, dedicated to Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It is celebrated every year on March 17.
