Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Georgia on its Independence Day

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Kakha Kutchava, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, and all the people of Georgia on Independence Day.

 

‘Our nations have followed a similar path to freedom, and common challenges have brought our countries closer together. Therefore, we have to appreciate and protect freedom and defend the fundamental principles of democracy in unison. My wish is that you have joyful commemoration of the celebration that is so important to your country,’ said the Speaker of the Seimas in her letter of congratulations.

 

Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen also noted the importance of partnership between the two countries.

 

‘I hope that close and friendly cooperation between Georgia and Lithuania will help to open up even more opportunities for your country and to speed up the achievement of Georgia’s strategic goals. These goals are more realistic today than ever,’ the congratulatory letter reads.
