Speaker of the Seimas congratulated the Kingdom of Denmark on Constitution Day

Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, on behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on her own behalf, congratulated the Folketing (Danish Parliament) on the occasion of Constitution Day, the National Holiday of the Kingdom of Denmark.

 

‘We clearly understand the importance of the Constitution as the legal basis of a state, consolidating democracy as well as fundamental human rights and freedoms. May the Constitution be a source of inspiration for the Folketing in undertaking meaningful and coherent daily parliamentary work,’ wrote Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen.

 

In the letter to Søren Gade, Speaker of the Danish Folketing, Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen emphasised the close cooperation between Lithuania and Denmark and their parliamentary dialogue developing at various levels and allowing to achieve the shared goals of both countries.

 

‘The regional dimension of the Nordic Countries and the Baltic States should be distinguished as a particularly important cooperation framework. I am certain that our discussions and visits will contribute to our regional cooperation geared towards protecting and fostering democratic values,’ noted Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen.
