Together with the Speakers of the Latvian and Estonian Parliaments, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, sent a letter on Thursday to Mike Johnson, Speaker of the US House of Representatives. They thanked their colleague for his personal leadership, allowing the Congress to demonstrate historical bipartisan unity in support of joint efforts to assist Ukraine.

‘We hope the Congress will make the right decision and approve the aid package for Ukraine, which it so desperately needs to stand up to tyrants and aggressors and ensure our collective security. Support for Ukraine is an investment in our common safe future. As Speaker Johnson himself once put it, there are moments in time when we simply have to do the right thing, even if it is difficult,’ Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen said.

In January this year, the Speakers of the Baltic Parliaments organised a joint visit to the US where they met with Speaker Johnson.
