Speaker of the Seimas had a meeting with the Speaker of the Latvian Saeima

Press release, 21 January 2021

On 21 January 2021, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, had a virtual meeting with Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia. The meeting looked at the framework for further cooperation between the Lithuanian and Latvian Parliaments and focused on the situation in Belarus and key bilateral policy matters.

‘Lithuania and Latvia are currently both facing an alarming spread of the coronavirus and are trying to escape from the grip of the pandemic by imposing severe restrictions and working out definite plans for future vaccination. The Parliaments of both countries have already successfully facilitated remote work. In the face of the pandemic, we must continue to pursue close bilateral cooperation between our countries and lay clear emphasis on common positions in respect to matters of direct importance to the Baltic Sea region and the European Union,’ said the Speaker of the Seimas.
