Speaker of the Seimas congratulated Greece on its national day

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Constantine An. Tassoulas, President of the Hellenic Parliament, and all the people of Greece on Independence Day.

‘This year’s celebration is of particular importance as your country marks the bicentennial of the successful Greek struggle for independence. Let me extend my sincere wishes of unity and success to the Hellenic Parliament in meeting today’s challenges and fulfilling the expectations of the people of your country,’ the letter of congratulations of the Speaker of the Seimas reads.

In her letter, the Speaker of the Seimas notes that Lithuania appreciates the contribution of Greece to the world’s culture and notes that the Lithuanian Association of Literary Translators declared 2021 the year of Greek literature. She also draws attention to the importance of cooperation between the two countries.

‘I am convinced that, being based on shared European values, our parliamentary cooperation and partnership in the European Union and NATO will contribute to smooth development of relations between Greece and Lithuania,’ the Speaker of the Seimas states in her letter.
