Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Poland on Independence Day

Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Tomasz Grodzki, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, and Elżbieta Witek, Marshal of the Polish Senate, as well as all the citizens of Poland on Independence Day.

 

‘In the context of respecting and fostering our ties with Poland as a close and very important ally and neighbour, we express our solidarity with your country in addressing the emergent challenges. Our shared past demonstrates that we have managed taking common decisions and acting together regardless of the difficult geopolitical circumstances. Therefore, we must also collectively defend our states and people today and protect our borders and the borders of the European Union,’ reads the letter from the Speaker.

On this significant occasion, the Speaker of the Seimas thanked the Polish Senate and the Sejm for their contribution to promoting close parliamentary cooperation aimed at countering hybrid attacks and commended their efforts to defend the shared values.
