Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Diet of Japan

On behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen extended congratulations to Hiroyuki Hosoda on becoming Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Diet of Japan.

‘I wish you success, meaningful and constructive work in this responsible position and in pursuit of all your goals’, wrote the Speaker of the Seimas in her congratulatory letter.

The Speaker of the Seimas stressed that the geographically remote Japan and Lithuania have a special relationship. She kindly invited Mr Hosoda to visit Lithuania.

‘This year we have marked the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Japan and Lithuania while next year we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of our relations. I am thus convinced that this is a good reason to further strengthen our bilateral and, at the same time, our parliamentary cooperation,’ wrote the Speaker of the Seimas.
