Speaker of the Seimas congratulated Poland on Independence Day

Pres release, 11 November 2022

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Elżbieta Witek, Marshal of the Sejm, and Tomasz Grodzki, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, on Independence Day. She wished unity in words and deeds to the Polish Parliament and every prosperity, strength, and peace to Poland and its people.

‘The people of Poland and Lithuania know but too well the price of freedom. We have shown time and again that we can stand strong and united in the face of a danger. Even in complicated geopolitical circumstances, we have been able to take joint decisions and act in unity. This is what we particularly need now as the hotbed of war is right here in Ukraine, our neighbouring country, which has preserved the legacy and historical memory of the Commonwealth of the Two Nations,’ reads the congratulatory letter.
