Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Romania on National Day

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated members of the Parliament of Romania on National Day. She extended to them the wishes of success in mobilising society for jointly addressing the current challenges. In her letters of congratulations, addressed to Ms Alina-Ştefania Gorghiu, Interim President of the Senate, and Mr Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, President of the Chamber of Deputies, the Speaker of the Seimas stressed the importance of parliamentary role in interstate dialogue.

‘I am pleased to note that the parliaments of Lithuania and Romania have an important role to play in the intensive bilateral dialogue between our countries. It is my firm belief that efforts based on shared values of Lithuanian and Romanian parliamentarians will continue to make a significant contribution to enhancing the solidarity between the Member States of the European Union and the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation,’ Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen underscored in her letter of congratulations.
