Speaker of the Seimas congratulates New Zealand on national day

On behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated the Speaker of the House of Representatives of New Zealand, Adrian Rurawhe, on Waitangi Day. She extended to the Parliament of New Zealand her wishes for every success, constructive work and unity of endeavour.

According to the Speaker of the Seimas, despite the geographical distance between the two countries, Lithuania and New Zealand share the same values of democracy, freedom and the rule of law as well as the desire to defend them.

‘I appreciate the increased parliamentary cooperation between Lithuania and New Zealand seen over the recent years. Members of our national Parliaments are successfully contributing to the development of bilateral relations,’ Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen stresses in her congratulatory letter.
