Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Finland on its Independence
Press release, 6 December 2021
On behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Anu Vehviläinen, President of the Eduskunta of the Republic of Finland, and the people of the country on Independence Day.
‘I hope that the Eduskunta of the Republic of Finland will enjoy smooth work, coherence and ability to reach agreement in everyday activities while building wellbeing for the people of the country,’ the congratulatory letter said.
Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen welcomed the close bilateral cooperation and constructive parliamentary dialogue between the two countries.
‘We also appreciate the active cooperation in the Nordic-Baltic cooperation format. I have no doubt that debates in this format at the annual meetings of Speakers of Parliament and joint visits facilitate an even stronger mutual understanding, while our opinion expressed in a single voice becomes stronger and more audible,’ said the Speaker of the Seimas.
