Hall of the Act of 11 March

The Hall of the Act of 11 March, where the independence of Lithuania was restored on 11 March 1990, served as the key workplace for the legislators until 2007.

Made a historic hall in September 2007, it now hosts solemn commemorations to honour the defenders of freedom and to mark the restoration of Lithuania’s independence, the Day of Mourning and Hope, the Day of Occupation and Genocide, and other dates of crucial importance for the development of Lithuania’s statehood, as well as key international events.

The 12 metre-high hall, covering an area of 673.52 square metres, is decorated with a batik tapestry by artist Kęstutis Balčikonis, entitled Vytis saulės spindulių fone (Vytis Against the Sunrays in the Backdrop).
