Seimo Europos reikalų komiteto pirmininko pavaduotojo L. Balsio kalba EURONEST parlamentinės asamblėjos sesijoje Briuselyje (EN)

Distinguished members of EURONEST, dear collegues.

As a vice chairman of the Eropean affairs committee of Lithuanian parliament, I am very glad to be here as an observer from the soon presidency country Lithuania. 

Euronest is an ideal format to further promote the Eastern Partnership of the EU. Getting together parliamentarians is always the best idea when it comes to new ideas and visions. 

Eastern partnership is one of the most important EU priorities of the LT presidency. Equaly as open and secure Europe. We can only achieve these goals by strengthening the rule of law in the partner states, and creating more secure and comfortable life for all. 

Energy security and coopeartion in this field with the Eastern partnership countries comes as one of the key priorities, be it nuclear security or energy infrastructure.

The Vilnius Summit in November could be and I'm sure WILL BE a large step towards realizing our goals. Among the most important goals is a signature of the Association Agreement and DCFTA with Ukraine. Of course , IF Ukraine will deliver in the field of democracy and human rights. I want to believe it will. 

But The European Union must deliver too. And this is Implementation of agreements. it will not be possible if we in the EU don't provide the right financial instruments. These instruments for the Eastern partnership are already forseen in the Multianual Financial Framework, and the ball now is in the yard of the European Parliament. I wish this Parliament and its Foreign affairs committe all the best in getting fast and smooth decision. 

Dear collegues , let me wish you a very fruitful work in this plenary of EURONEST and I'm sure the result driven mood will spread from here and last all over the Lithuanian presidency.
