Saulius Skvernelis, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulates the new President of the German Bundestag

Saulius Skvernelis, Speaker of the Seimas, has congratulated Julia Klöckner on her election as President of the German Bundestag and wished her every success in assuming these responsible duties.

‘The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania stands ready to enhance the interparliamentary relations between our countries and ensure political support for dialogue and cooperation in the area of defence and security. I am convinced that with its leadership, the German Bundestag will continue to make a significant contribution to ensuring a secure future for the continent grounded in democratic values,’ the congratulatory letter reads. Mr Skvernelis also extended his invitation to the newly elected President of the German Bundestag to pay a bilateral visit to Lithuania.
