While commemorating U.S. Independence Day, European parliamentarians remind that today, Ukraine—just like America 249 years ago—is defending its right to live in peace and to determine its own destiny

Press release, 7 July 2025 (NewsPhotos ● Broadcasts and videos)

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Seimas, Remigijus Motuzas, joined European parliamentarians in extending congratulations on the occasion of U.S. Independence Day. Members of parliaments from European countries, while congratulating the United States on its 249th anniversary of independence, expressed solidarity with the American people and emphasized the importance of defending democratic values.

In a jointly signed statement, it is noted that Ukraine has clearly demonstrated openness to a complete and unconditional ceasefire and negotiations, as proposed by U.S. President Trump. However, this proposal was rejected by Putin, and Russia has only intensified its brutal attacks. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen military and technological support in order to stop Russia’s aggression. The signatories call on the world’s democracies to remain united—Ukraine’s victory will be a victory for the entire free world.
