The meeting focused on hybrid threats, information warfare, and cybersecurity in the Baltic Sea region. Representatives of the Estonian Internal Security Service and Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service, along with experts from the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), took part in the discussions.

In his speech, Mr Baranovas underlined the importance of historical facts in the context of the present-day information warfare: ‘The European Union must firmly resist Russian disinformation, interference in elections, and the rewriting of history. Lithuania places strong emphasis on historical memory, advocates for the development of educational programmes, and promotes closer cooperation between historians and other experts in order to preserve Europe’s historical memory and counter attempts to distort it.’

In addition to the plenary meeting held at the Riigikogu in Tallinn, delegations visited the Estonian naval base and learned about the regional security situation in the Baltic Sea as well as the protection of underwater infrastructure. They also visited the Rail Baltica Ülemiste joint terminal, titled Linda, and discussed strategic transport connections and infrastructure security.

The following meeting of Chairs of the European Union Affairs Committees is scheduled for spring 2026 in Gdansk, Poland.
