President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda will deliver his first State of the Nation Address at the Seimas

On Thursday, 18 June 2020, at 10 a.m. Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania, will deliver his first State of the Nation Address at the Seimas sitting.

 

As enshrined in Article 84 of the Constitution, the Head of State shall make annual reports at the Seimas on the situation in Lithuania and the domestic and foreign policies of the Republic of Lithuania.

 

Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania traditionally deliver State of the Nation Addresses during the spring session of the Seimas. On 11 June 2019, the then President of the Republic Dalia Grybauskaitė made her last – the tenth – State of the Nation Address at the Seimas sitting.

 

Elected as President in the presidential election on 26 May 2019, Gitanas Nausėda, was sworn in and received the presidential mandate on 12 July 2020.

 

The State of the Nation Address of the Head of State will be broadcast live via  the Seimas website,  the TV channel Seimas Live and the Seimas YouTube and Facebook accounts. It will be possible to observe the State of the Nation Address of the President on YouTube channel of the Seimas with interpretation into English as well as on the Seimas Twitter account. The State of the Nation Address will also be broadcast live by LRT TV, LRT Lituanica, and LRT radio.
