Seimas Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan calls for the resolution of the conflict in Kazakhstan through peaceful dialogue between the authorities and the public

The Seimas Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan, observing with concern the situation in Kazakhstan, where protests and unrest have erupted following public discontent over the doubling of the price of liquefied petroleum gas, adopted a statement expressing hope that that the current difficult domestic situation in Kazakhstan could be resolved by peaceful means, through dialogue between the authorities and the public, in accordance with the rule of law and respect for international obligations, including freedom of the press and fundamental freedoms of expression.
The Group expressed its sincere condolences to the people of Kazakhstan for the loss of lives and destruction and called on both parties to the conflict to remain calm and to avoid steps that could provoke further aggression, violence or excessive use of force.
The Seimas Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed its confidence that Kazakhstan would be able to cope with the challenges ahead.
The statement also expressed hope that our countries would maintain excellent bilateral relations at the political, economic and cultural levels.
