What services does the Visitor Centre offer?
The Visitor Centre of the Seimas offers free of charge guided tours of the Seimas for organised visitor groups (consisting of at least 10 persons) and individual visitors. The guided tour includes an introduction to the institution of the Seimas, followed by a visit to the Plenary Chamber and other venues which are relevant to the restoration of Lithuania’s independence, i.e. the Hall of the Act of 11 of March, the Constitution Hall, and the Gallery of the Defenders of Freedom of Lithuania. Depending on their age, visitors are briefed on the parliamentary activities, the legislative procedure, and the possibilities for citizens to participate in the legislative process. Meetings with Members of the Seimas or defenders of freedom can also be held. In addition, the Visitor Centre of the Seimas offers thematic guided tours on The Parliament’s Defence in 1991. Thematic guided tours are conducted by representatives of the Union of the Defenders of Freedom who were engaged in defending the Parliament in 1991. The Visitor Centre also hosts various free of charge educational activities where, depending on their age, visitors can learn about the parliamentary activities and the legislative procedure.
