The Office of the Seimas has earned praise for quality data management

The Office of the Seimas has received significant recognition in the form of the Data Ambassador Award initiated by the state data agency Statistics Lithuania. It presented the Office of the Seimas with the top award in the Data Description category ‘for the very detailed and thorough description of data and assistance in creating a semantic layer’. Though a total of 150 state institutions were assessed, only ten public sector organisations collected major awards in four categories.

‘This recognition holds enormous significance because it shows progress in the area of strategic importance for both our institution and our state. The Office of the Seimas sees efficient data management and effective use of data in decision-making as strategic tasks and essential tools for substantially contributing to a better legislative process and its greater positive impact on society,’ noted Modestas Gelbūda, Secretary General of the Seimas.

The award ceremony was organised in the framework of the project ‘Integration of State Information Resources into a Data Lake’ implemented by the Statistics Lithuania. The Office of the Seimas has been actively engaged in the project since May 2023 with a view to opening as much data as possible to the public through high-quality data management.
