Speaker of the Seimas condemns the attack in Berlin and expresses condolences to the President of the German Bundestag

Press release, 20 December 2016

On behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on his own behalf, Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas, extended his condolences to Prof Norbert Lammert, President of the German Bundestag, on the attack against innocent people in Berlin.

“We strictly condemn the attack and express our sincere sympathy to the German nation. Deaths of innocent people and alarming events have overshadowed the most beautiful holiday season of the year,” said Mr Pranckietis.

The Speaker of the Seimas expressed the sympathy in his letter sent in the afternoon of 20 December.

“This brutal attack reminds us once again that all of us must believe in the vision of a better world, free of hate and violence, and persistently work on this vision,” said Mr Pranckietis.

In his letter, the Speaker of the Seimas conveyed his wishes of fortitude to the German people.
