Speaker of the Seimas congratulated Antonio Tajani, the new President of the European Parliament, and thanked the former President

Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Antonio Tajani on his election as the new President of the European Parliament and thanked Martin Schulz, former President of the European Parliament, for the professional cooperation.

“In today’s world, which is full of challenges, our unity is crucial as never before. I am convinced that your extensive professional experience and personal qualities will help to successfully address the issues of relevance to the whole of Europe,” wrote the Speaker. On Tuesday, MEPs elected Antonio Tajani nominated by the European People’s Party, as the new President of the European Parliament. After five years leading the European Parliament, Martin Schulz will return to national policy-making.

“Following the end of your term as the President of the European Parliament, may I, on behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on my own behalf, express sincere gratitude for the significant dialogue and successful cooperation between the Seimas and the European Parliament,” wrote Viktoras Pranckietis in his letter to Martin Schulz.
