On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Lithuania’s membership of NATO, Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas, will address the NATO troops on mission in Lithuania.

On Friday, 29 March 2019, the Speaker of the Seimas will visit units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group in Rukla. He will address the German, Dutch, Czech, Norwegian and Belgian soldiers serving on mission in the location.

According to the Speaker of the Seimas, the German leadership of the Battalion has proven to be a strong guarantee of regional security.

‘Throughout the two years of its existence, the Battle Group has demonstrated that permanent presence of allies in the country is vital for our security and deterrence of enemies. NATO troops are our friends and partners; and we have to express our gratitude to them for peace on our soil,’ the Speaker of the Seimas says.

During his visit, the Speaker will attend a solemn formation dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Lithuania’s membership of NATO. Lt Col Peer Papenbroock, NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup Commander, will make a presentation on the integration of the Battle Group into the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf and will upgrade the situation awareness of the attendees, as well as demonstrate the infrastructure of the forces.
