Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Poland on the Day of the Constitution of 3 May

Press release, 3 May 2021

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, extended her congratulations to Tomasz Grodzki, Marshal of the Senate, and Elżbieta Witek, Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. as well as to all the residents of Poland on the occasion of the Day of the Constitution of 3 May.

‘I believe that this anniversary and jointly organised events will encourage the Lithuanian and Polish societies to delve even deeper into the history of statehood of our two countries and will prompt our nations to maintain unity and solidarity in defending the freedoms and values declared in the Constitution.

The commemoration of the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May and the Mutual Pledge of the Commonwealth of the Two Nations offers wide scope for revisiting the importance of these historical documents. As we pay tribute to the heritage of contemporary constitutionalism, we also express our conviction that these ideas have laid the foundation for the political identity of the citizens of the countries that are successors of the Commonwealth of the Two Nations,’ said the Speaker of the Seimas.
