Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Israel on Rosh Hashanah

Press release, 6 September 2021

Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, on behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, congratulates the Israeli people on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the New Year 5782.

‘In this challenging period of the pandemic that has proven to be a test for us all I want to wish all the Israeli people great stamina, determination and success,’ said the Speaker of the Seimas in her congratulatory letter.

On Friday, the Speaker of the Seimas took part in a reception to mark Rosh Hashanah and commemorate the 30th anniversary of the decision of the State of Israel to recognise the restored state of Lithuania.

‘Today, three decades onwards, we can really boast of excellent relations in a range of sectors not limited to politics. I am impressed by the vigour of the Embassy of the State of Israel in familiarising the Lithuanian population with the customs, traditions, culture, and artistic achievements of Israel. I believe that, in addition to the strong focus on historical memory, Lithuania and Israel also share a sensitive approach to future and future prospects. Therefore, without forgetting the painful past, let us summon the strength to build the future together,’ said the Speaker.
