Speaker of the Seimas congratulates France on Bastille Day

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, has congratulated Gérard Larcher, Speaker of the French Senate, and Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly, on Bastille Day, a national holiday of France.

‘Over the past decade, the bilateral relations between Lithuania and France, as well as their ties within the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, have grown in strength. As strategic partners, our countries have been successfully developing close bilateral cooperation and political dialogue based on mutual respect and shared values,’ reads the congratulatory letter by Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen.

According to the Speaker of the Seimas, Lithuania appreciates France’s efforts in ensuring stability in the region and strengthening unity in Europe, and is hoping to further joint endeavours to address political, economic, energy and security challenges.
