On its official visit to Yerevan, Armenia, the Seimas delegation under the leadership of Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas, met with Armen Sarkissian, President of the Republic of Armenia; Ararat Mirzoyan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia; and Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

The meetings focused on matters pertaining to the bilateral political agenda, potential new bilateral initiatives, and Armenia’s relations with the European Union.

The Speaker of the Seimas noted that with significant democratic reforms in Armenia underway, Lithuania was discovering this country anew and was willing to share its experience on the fight against corruption, judicial reform, police, renewable energy, waste sorting, road safety, and information technologies.

Mr Pranckietis said that Lithuania advocated the swiftest possible ratification of the EU–Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and its effective implementation in Armenia.

The Speaker of the Seimas talked about Lithuania’s support for the opening of a visa-liberalisation dialogue and implementation of the conditions necessary for the introduction of a visa-free regime that would allow Armenian citizens to travel freely in the Schengen area. Mr Pranckietis encouraged Armenia to draw from the relevant experience of the associated Eastern Partnership countries, namely Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova.
