Pope John Paul II visited Lithuania on 4–8 September 1993. A commemorative plaque in Building 1 and the Pope John Paul II Hall in Building 3 of the Seimas serve as the reminders of this historic visit.

On 13 January 2011, a commemorative plaque was unveiled in the Pope John Paul II Hall to commemorate those who died for the freedom of Lithuania.
