The Group for Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe established at the Seimas

The Seimas established the Provisional Group for Cultural Heritage, European Cultural Routes, and Saint James Way, consisting of 9 Members of the Seimas.
Laima Liucija Andrikienė was elected Head of the Group, with Silva Lengvinienė as her Deputy. Members of the Group include Vytautas Juozapaitis, Vilija Aleknaitė-Abramikienė, Zigmantas Balčytis, Andrius Navickas, Liuda Pociūnienė, Antanas Vinkus and Stasys Tumėnas.
The Group’s agenda will contain matters relating to the protection of cultural heritage, as well as safeguarding of European cultural routes and the Saint James Way as the first and oldest pilgrim route in Europe, with individual branches extending through Lithuania as well.
The European Institute of Cultural Routes under the Council of Europe has certified two pilgrim routes in Lithuania: the Saint James Way of Lithuania, with its Samogitia/the Kaliningrad region, Šiauliai, Kaunas and Vilnius branches; and the European Route of Jewish Heritage.
