About the Seimas 2024–2028
The elections to the Seimas of the 2024–2028 legislative period took place on 13 and 27 October 2024. Following the second electoral round and the vote count, members of nine political entities and two self-nominated candidates won parliamentary seats.
On 11 November, the coalition agreement between the three parties was signed by their leaders, namely, Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, Chair of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), Remigijus Žemaitaitis, Chair of the Nemunas Dawn Party, and Saulius Skvernelis, Chair of the Union of Democrats ‘For Lithuania’.
The following political groups were established in the 2024–2028 Seimas: the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party Political Group, the Nemunas Dawn Political Group, the Political Group of Democrats ‘For Lithuania’, the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrat Political Group, the Liberals Movement Political Group, the Political Group of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and the Christian Families Alliance, and the Group of Non-attached Members of the Seimas.
At the inaugural sitting, a declaration on the formation of the ruling coalition was made informing that the MPs belonging to the political groups of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, the Nemunas Dawn, and the Union of Democrats ‘For Lithuania’ join into the coalition as agreed previously.
The Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrat Political Group and the Liberals Movement Political Group declared themselves the Opposition.
