Speaker of the Seimas congratulated the Canadian Parliament on Canada Day

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Raymonde Gagné, Speaker of the Senate, and Greg Fergus, Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada on Canada Day. 

In her letter of congratulations, the Speaker of the Seimas commended the close relations between Canada and Lithuania as well as the successful cooperation of the two countries within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and thanked Canada for its continued support to Ukraine. 

‘This support helps Ukraine to defend the values of the democratic world and its own right to self-determination as a nation. It is crucial for restoring peace and maintaining a rules-based world order,’ Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen stressed. ‘Lithuania is also grateful for Canada’s contribution to strengthening the security of the Baltic States. We trust that we will continue to develop a constructive partnership,’ the letter of congratulations reads.
