Speaker of the Seimas congratulates Italy on Republic Day

On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, President of the Senate, and Roberto Fico, President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic, on the Italian National Holiday – Republic Day.

‘This historic day, commemorating the Italian referendum of 1946, a breaking point in consolidating a modern democracy, serves as a reminder for us all of the significance of democratic values and of making the right choices. I therefore wish you wise decisions in dealing with daily matters and in building greater prosperity for your people and a brighter future for the state,’ reads the congratulatory letter.
