Speaker of the Seimas congratulated Estonia on the Day of Restoration of Independence

Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, on behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on her own behalf, congratulated Lauri Hussar, President of the Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia, on the Day of Restoration of Independence. In her letter, the Speaker wished the Riigikogu draw inspiration from the freedom won 32 years ago in focusing on joint and harmonious efforts today.

The Speaker of the Seimas also took the opportunity to welcome the close cooperation between Estonia and Lithuania.

‘In addition to the bilateral cooperation between our countries, the regional dimension of the Nordic countries and the Baltic States should be distinguished as a particularly important cooperation framework. I am certain that our discussions and visits will continue strengthening our regional cooperation geared towards protecting and fostering democratic values,’ the Speaker’s congratulatory letter reads.
